New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will celebrate his 76th birthday on 17 September 2026. He was born on 17 September 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat. That means this year his age will be 76 years. According to the official information of the Prime Minister's Office, Modi is the first prime minister of the country to be born in independent India. He has been the prime minister of the country since May 2014 and has taken oath for the third time in June 2024.
Like every year on the occasion of his birthday, this time also different programmes are being organised by his supporters and Bharatiya Janata Party across the country. This year, it has been announced to run 'Seva Pakhwada' from 17th September to 2nd October. Under this, programmes related to service and public welfare will be organised across the country.
Goddess worship has a special place in Narendra Modi's religious and spiritual routine. His devotion has also come to the fore in public several times during Navratri. On the occasion of Navratri in March 2026, the Prime Minister had said about the worship of Maa Durga that there is immense power in the devotion of the Maa and the worship of the Goddess gives positive energy to the devotees. He had said that during Shardiya Navratri, he completely abstains from food for nine days and takes only hot water. Whereas during Chaitra Navratri, his fasting is different, in which he told about taking only one fruit once a day for nine days. According to Modi, this tradition of fasting has been going on in his life for many decades.
Along with goddess worship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's faith in Lord Shiva has also been shown on many occasions. His visits to Kedarnath Dham are the most famous example of this. He has visited Baba Kedar many times and has also been seen meditating and worshipping there.
On the occasion of the opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham in April 2026, the Prime Minister also expressed his reverence for Baba Kedar. Linking Kedarnath and Chardham Yatra to India's faith, unity and rich tradition, he extended good wishes to the devotees and declared 'Har-Har Mahadev'.
